Traditional clothing

Ts'itsatna is the Kenaitze word for ancestors. The center houses over 400 items documenting the rich and vibrant culture, tradition, and language of the Kenaitze. These range from books, oral tapes, video tapes, to a computer data collection. Members of the Kenatize Cultural Researchers Committee work with Tribal administration to perpetuate Kenaitze customs, language, and tradition.

What is an Archive?

An archive is an organization that collects a variety of documents and records, including photos, audio/video recordings, etc., which are of historical value and interest.

The Ts'itsatna Tribal Archive currently is collecting and organizing materials which are extremely valuable in documenting and preserving the Dena'ina language.

How can you help?

The Ts'itsatna Tribal Archives are expanding their collection of photographs. We are looking for images of Tribal members, old Kenai, or historical Kenaitze Indian Tribe events.

Please contact Dana Verrengia, Archivist, if you are interested in donating your images. The photos will be scanned for possible inclusion in the digital archives, and the originals returned to you.

For more information, you may contact Dana Verrengia, Archivist, at the Cultural & Educational offices 335-0669.
