POSITION TITLE:Elder Advocate

POSITION SUMMARY

To plead and/or act on behalf of an individual elder or group to obtain a service. The incumbent assists older persons to obtain their rights and to obtain their objectives including: legal representation, and other activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Alaska Drivers License /Non-SR22 Insurance/ State required insurance
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Current First Aid & CPR Card.

  • Basic Computer Skills

POSITION TITLE:Youth Advocate

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide drug, alcohol and suicide prevention and intervention services to youth based on Kenaitze Tribal values, tradition and culture through after school programs and summer camps. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to C&E staff working on projects and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with youth.
  • An understanding of and appreciation for the Kenaitze Dena’ina culture, history and traditions.
  • Creative, energetic and motivated approach to achieving goals.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple goals, projects, and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead, adapt, and align programs with change.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Experience in public speaking preferred.
  • Able to work a varied work schedule, travel to events, competitions and camps.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and be physically active.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors to Kenaitze Indian Tribe in a friendly, professional, and helpful way. The Receptionist is responsible for answering and routing calls, coordinating incoming and outgoing mail, handling inquiries from the public, and providing information related to the tribe. They also fill a minor security role by monitoring access to the building by visitors

QUALIFICATIONS

(Any equivalent Combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One year of clerical experience, ability to type 40 wpm preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Requires Alaska driver’s license and must pass required criminal background check
  • Willingness to learn the language, culture and history of the Dena’ina people.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of office support assignments to direct and coordinate customer service functions: answering the telephone, typing, 10-key, filing and scheduling appointments. Greets, assists and directs customers, visitors and guests. Notifies appropriate employee when customer arrives for his/her appointment. Responsible for ensuring the initial customer interactions, both telephonic and in person, is meeting the client’s needs in a pleasant, proactive, problem-solving manner. Responsible for collecting monies and maintaining the receivable accounts. Provides clerical support to all staff at NFC (i.e. faxing, copying, etc).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • At least two years clerical experience
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

POSITION TITLE:Medical Laboratory & Radiology Technologist

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Maintain and use equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portions of the human body on X-Ray for diagnostic purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Licensed with the State of Alaska department of Occupations as Medical Laboratory and Radiology/Technician preferred
  • Two years or more in the Medical Laboratory setting in an apprenticeable position with increasing experience in all laboratory fields. i.e., chemistry, microbiology etc
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes use of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, and production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in an ambulatory health care environment and to work effectively with management and clinical staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; organizational skills, attention to detail and able to handle pressures from people, and environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

To create a successful environment that will promote the growth and development of up to 20 Head Start children and families. Teachers will maintain on-going contact with families, and work with all other program components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health) to integrate educational goals, developmentally appropriate practices into the family setting and encourage health and well being of the child by following the guidance of the Head Start Performance Standards. In addition to social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, teachers also prepare children for a successful transition into the public school system.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field. (if not currently CDA credentialed or have an AAS degree, employee must obtain CDA within 180 days of hire).
  • Demonstrated classroom ability, typically two years class room experience with preschool-age children. Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to supervise Teach Aide, Individual Skills Providers and volunteers in the classroom setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially good listening skills. Working knowledge of available community resources and Head Start program components.

POSITION TITLE:Mental Health Clinician

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of clinical services to the Nakenu Family Center clients. Clinical services include: intakes and assessments, development of treatment plans, discharge planning and individual and group counseling sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field required.
  • Licensed as a LCSW, LPC, or PA in Alaska or eligible for licensure.
  • One (1) year post-master’s experience providing Mental Health direct services including experience working with chronically mentally ill adults and drug and alcohol programs preferred.
  • Experience with computerized management information system/AK AIMS.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with or living among Alaska Natives/Native Americans preferred.
  • Ability to engage in physical and recreational activities.
  • Knowledge of child protection and ICWA laws. Be able to operate ethically and under licensing code.
  • Ability to lift program materials weighing up to 30 pounds.

POSITION TITLE:Family Partner

REPORTS TO:Family Services/Training/Enrollment Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Family Partner plans, coordinates, recruits, and facilitates parental involvement, parenting classes, and the development of individualized Family Partnership Agreement for the purpose of improving the quality of life of the family. Partners assist in achieving family goals, providing support, and assistance to families of children enrolled in the Head Start Program to enhance personal success and adjustment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred AA in Human Service, psychology, Social Service, Early Childhood Development.
  • Preferred four years prior experience working in the field of family Services/Mental Health/Early Childhood Education or equivalent experience.

  • Good organizational skills and timely, accurate documentation.

POSITION SUMMARY

To assist the teacher in providing a positive learning experience for children and families with the classroom, during cultural programs and during tutoring. Ability to work with 3-5 yrs olds as well as K-2 grades. Ability to work with children with special needs.

Assist teachers with data entry and printed communication with families.

POSITION SUMMARY

Individual Skill Providers provide assistance and teach skills so clients served will achieve the desired outcomes listed in their treatment plan in areas of social and recreational activities, safety and problem solving, and academic achievement. The ISP is accountable to insure that their progress notes meet standards as specified in grants and contracts, applicable professional statutes and regulations, KIT polices and procedures and professional ethics and responsible for maintaining an on-going positive relationship with schools and other agencies within the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's service delivery system

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • General understanding of drug and alcohol abuse and treatment, mental illness, FASD, mental and physical

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift program materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
